All about me...
I was born and raised in Glenwood, Iowa, which is about 15 minutes southwest of Bellevue. I have an older sister, Jamie who lives in Bennington with her two daughters and husband. I have an older brother,Christopher, who lives in Glenwood with his wife and son.
I grew up playing all types of sports, which left me being quite the tomboy! I absolutely love watching all kinds of sports on t.v. and live, except for golf and bowling. Football is my favorite to watch...specifically Nebraska footbal (even though I am from Iowa)!! I played volleyball, basketball, and softball all 4 years of high school. I went on to earn a basketball scholarship for college, where I was a NJCAA athletic and academic all-American. I then transfered to College of Saint Mary in Omaha and earned my Bachelor's degree in 2004.
Teaching...I began my teaching career in August 2005 with Omaha Public Schools. I taught a total of 5 years there, teaching both 2nd and 5th grades. I have spent 2 years in Bellevue teaching 5th grade and Title 1 reading. I love learning and try to instill the same passion in my students! I've been blessed to have been given the opportunities teaching different grade levels and positions. I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Peru State College in May 2010. I hope to start taking more college courses in the near future!
Family....
My husband and I were married in July 2009 in Maui, Hawaii. We recently celebrated our 2nd anniversary. My husband, Mark, is a lieutenant with the Omaha Police Department, currently at the Northeast Precinct. We had our first child in September of 2010. Her name is Aliya. She keeps us very busy and I love spending any time I have with her. She's learning something new everyday!
